5 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's RAW (Oct 20)

1. A Feud For The Future

Forget the matches booked for Sunday, this Randy Orton-Seth Rollins deal that€™s simmering on the back burner looks pretty interesting. For the past several weeks, fans have seen Orton sniping at Rollins, talking about having to bail out the young superstar after he antagonizes other wrestlers. Most recently, Orton has bristled at Rollins mentioning that he€™s the future face of the WWE. Even though Orton has been at the top of the WWE for a decade now, he€™s just 34, only six years older than Rollins. The back-and-forth between the two, right down to Rollins overtly plotting to use his Money in the Bank briefcase to cash in on Orton should he become WWE World Heavyweight Champion, is the kind of long-term planning we don€™t see very often from WWE. They are clearly sowing the seeds for a major confrontation, and if built up properly, it could be a money feud. Or they could blow it by having Rollins curbstomp Orton... oh wait. Still, there's always the possibility of an uneasy alliance for the short term before pitting them against each other. While a slow burn to Orton being dismissed from the Authority in favor of the younger Rolling might be tough at this point to pull off, it€™s somewhat refreshing to see a bit of subtle booking being applied instead of week-to-week booking. Now WWE, just don't prove this wrong by blowing it off at Survivor Series.
