5 Ups And 5 Downs From NXT 400
2. Ciampa Vs. Gargano Could Be Amazing
The match between best buds Ciampa and Gargano was one of the highlights of the Cruiserweight Classic, a punishing and excellently played contest that got the absolute maximum out of Johnny Gargano's compelling battered underdog act.
Now their tag team has split up and NXT looks ready to repeat the spectacle, this time as enemies instead of reluctantly competing friends.
Gargano is one of NXT's best performers, especially when he can display his capacity to get convincingly beaten up before beating the odds. A singles run could put him in the same category as Sami Zayne, technically excellent but also capable of playing his part in a compelling story.
A less known quantity to an NXT audience is Tommaso Ciampa as a heel, which is as tempting a prospect as Gargano's good guy. Ciampa looks like a man who stabs people with an icepick for money and could be genuinely terrifying as a merciless, psychopathic heel.
