5 Ups And 5 Downs From NXT 400
Downs...
5. Oh God, Percy Watson, Why?
A commentary team needs three people. Quite who decided this, or why, or where it's written down to give it such authority, is unknown. But it has to be true, because that's the only way Percy Watson's presence behind the NXT commentator's desk can be explained.
It's not that Watson is bad - not really bad in a way that could at least be laughed at or cringed over in a Booker T/Mad Dusty Rhodes/Art Donovan sort of way. He's simply barely there, piping up occasionally with cut-and-paste video game lines like a generic commentator soundboard on someone's iPhone.
"These guys are crazy and absolutely deranged," quips Watson as the obviously bonkers SAnitY make their entrance. Thanks, Percy. "Bobby better watch out for the explosiveness of Roderick Strong," he opines as the championship match begins. Great insight there, buddy.
Watson's mission seems to be showing how little meaning can be imparted into a sentence of commentary, speaking only to remind us he exists.
