5 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Dec 7)
2. Lumis Returns To Winning Ways... But The Feud Must Continue
Returning on Sunday night in the thick of the men's WarGames encounter, recent hospital escapee Dexter Lumis was scheduled to rekindle his rudely interrupted feud with Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams (minus his The Way father-in-law, I might add). But with Williams not being able to fight due to a supposed eye injury, which was about as lazily presented as the rest of this feud, it was up to the North American Champion to do the heavy lifting here.
And that's precisely what he excellently did for a spell. But there's only so much you can do when faced with a programme destined to fall flat from the get-go.
After convincingly dominating much of the contest, breaking down a previously injured hand (injured by Hayes, no less) throughout, The "A" Champion fell victim to a DQ finish thanks to the squealing sidekick that is Williams thumping the crawling creep for not relinquishing his Silence submission in the ropes. This dodgy finish, coupled with Lumis stupidly attempting to crawl at a ringside Williams from inside of the ring and getting deservedly drive-by-ed for his troubles, did nothing to suggest that any more sense will be imbued into this never-ending feud in the near future.
And by WWE logic, this DQ victory will no doubt lead to a Lumis title shot, too. Rejoice! For the feud must always continue!
