5 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE Raw (Feb 7)
2. Lita Drops Kid Who Idolized Her
Sometimes, reality makes for a good storyline. Becky Lynch has made no secret that she idolized Lita as a teenager, and that hearing her idol praising her felt amazing.
But before you could be lulled into thinking this was going to be a respect feud, Becks pulled back and said that she was hurt and angry that someone she looked up to so much was trying to take everything – her Raw Women’s Championship – away from her. Lynch noted that she’s ditched friends and fans with no trouble to hold onto her title, and she’d dump Lita with no trouble too.
Lita acknowledged that she was the underdog heading into her first singles title match in 15 years against a woman in her prime, but she was still just living her dream and was fine with her odds. This led Becky to attack her, but she got cocky and Lita dropped her with a Twist of Fate and moonsault to really put a stamp on this rivalry.
While not the greatest by any stretch, this rushed feud still feels stronger than half the stuff they throw together for PLEs these days. And a Hall-of-Famer acknowledging her uphill struggle was a nice touch rather than everyone having to pretend “she’s never looked better!”
