4. Angle Payoff? What Angle Payoff?

So the longest-running, most consistent storyline on Raw has seemingly ended with not a bang, but with a whimper – or a “Woooo.”

For three months, Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler have tormented Lana, putting her through a table nine times and demeaning her at every turn. All of this led to Lana teaming up with Asuka to challenge for Nia & Shayna’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship at TLC. This was a natural conclusion to the story: Lana somehow puts Nia through a table, helping her team win the tag titles.

Instead, WWE booked an injury angle on Raw, knocking Lana out of the match. Asuka then picked Charlotte Flair, and Lana was basically never heard from again as Flair & Asuka defeated the champs to win the titles.

Just like that, WWE’s most consistent angle was basically dropped – or at least, it was brushed aside for now.
