5 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (March 9th)

3. Undercard Logjams

Talk about a mess. The Intercontinental Championship and WWE Tag Team Championship title scenes are so convoluted that each could be its own entry on this list. Both are looking to be multi-competitor matches as WWE throws everyone not in the battle royal into these bouts. Monday, we saw the IC title debacle continue, as Bad News Barrett €“ the Intercontinental champion who only wins title defenses and had his physical title belt stolen €“ lost yet again, this time to Daniel Bryan. Barrett then laid out Bryan. Dean Ambrose immediately came out and beat Stardust, who had stolen the title most recently. (Yes, the angle is that everyone takes turns €œstealing€ the IC title instead of demanding a one-on-one shot to earn the title.) Then all four men, plus Luke Harper and Dolph Ziggler, started brawling to drive home the IC title ladder match at WrestleMania. Finally, R-Truth (who was on commentary the whole time) stole the IC title (again). That€™s seven men in this title match, and if Goldust comes looking for retribution against his brother Stardust, then it€™s eight men. As for the tag team scene, first the heatless and directionless New Day scored an €œupset€ victory over Tag Team Champions Cesaro and Tyson Kidd, which segued to a Divas match, which segued to another tag match. In that contest, forgotten team Los Matadores beat the second-best tag team on the roster, the Usos, leading to a likely four-way title match at Mania. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHM-gNgMljM Memo to WWE: More wrestlers in a title match does not mean you are placing a greater value on the title, nor does it mean fans will care more about the title or the match itself. Thankfully, both could be solid in-ring matches.
