5 Ups And 8 Downs From WWE Stomping Grounds

3. Baron Corbin: Main Eventer

Let’s take a second to let this sink in: Baron Corbin main-evented a WWE PPV. And surprise, he was terrible.

The “match” itself was awful, but more on that later.

Can we finally abandon any thought of Corbin as anything more than a midcard heel? The guy’s got limited moves, average mic work and the charisma of a vacuum cleaner… as in, he sucks. But yet, here he is, getting his second WWE Universal Championship PPV match, and this time to close out the event.

The match itself exposed Baron more than anything, as he dominated the bout but had nothing to back up the fact he was supposed to be in control. He was slow, plodding and dull. The match was overbooked to hell, but if Corbin had been better at playing his role, it could have at least been passable.

WWE brass must hear the fans boo and think that it’s heel heat for Corbin, which reinforces this writer’s previous request: Fans should just turn their backs on Corbin or walk out of the arena when he’s in the ring. Apathy is the only “emotion” that can convey how fans really feel about him.
