WWE clearly booked itself into a corner with Bray Wyatt, wanting him to appear special and not look vulnerable, ala Undertaker in 1990.

Yet, they booked him in a WWE Universal Championship match at a time when they weren’t ready to put the title on him, in a Hell in a Cell match, which generally means that anything goes, so a DQ is out of the picture.

What they did was have The Fiend absorb all of Seth Rollins’ punishment, including about a dozen Stomps and a pedigree, yet still kickout at 1. And then it went way off the rails. But the entire match was ridiculous, from the red lights, to the odd pacing, to the non-finish, to Rollins “bleeding” from the mouth in the Mandible Claw at the end of the show.

And worst of all, this came on the heels of a rival promotion starting up and at a time when WWE launched a season premier of Raw and kicked SmackDown off on a new network, so they clearly had to think they might have more eyes on this show. And this was what they came up.

Fans chanted “AEW!” and “Bulls***!” at the ending of the match, clearly pissed about all of it, and you can’t blame them one bit for this one.
