5 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 17th)

DOWN

5. *Now* We Have A Long Memory?

One of the things that wrestling fans accept is that a lot of things that happen in the weeks, months and years prior are no longer relevant to a storyline. This is necessary in an era where you have people turning face and heel and you end up with former enemies becoming partners. You can€™t be the type who yells about inconsistencies in who hates who from six months ago or you€™ll drive yourself crazy. Which is why Stephanie calling up video from more than a year ago when Ryback first turned heel and challenged John Cena for the WWE Championship was so odd. The footage showed Cena mocking and insulting Ryback, serving as a backdrop for Stephanie telling the Big Guy that he can€™t trust Cena. Since when has year-old footage been used to preserve internal consistency? This is a group of writers who can€™t be consistent with storylines from week to week, let alone over the course of several months. http://youtu.be/9ZGwxww7VOE?t=3m15s On the one hand, this should be applauded. It€™s refreshing to see WWE try to insert internal logic and reasoning, even if it€™s a heel trying to get her way. But the problem is that this is an aberration and we probably won€™t see this sort of thing happen again for a while.
