5 Ways WWE's Actually Better Without A Crowd

Wrestling is not better without a crowd. The fans that pack into arenas, gyms, sports halls, bars, concert venues, or wherever else promoters can think to book the show, are the absolute lifeblood of the industry. Without their enthusiasm, their participation, or their passion, none of this works.

You'd hope that would go without saying. The challenging global situation has rendered all forms of entertainment either unpermissible or unrecognisable, and it's one bright spot in all of this that pro-wrestling is even able to continue in any capacity at all. This is a complex situation for the industry, with a nuanced solution, and while wrestling is absolutely not better without a crowd... there are some elements that are better than any of us expected.

Being such an important part of the production (literally their own branded aspect of it in WWE, occasionally blinded by stage lights purely to look better as a backdrop) removing them from the equation changes a lot about how a wrestling show works. As we've seen with WWE and AEW in recent weeks, some of these changes are pretty grim and depressing, but it's also bringing out the best in other aspects of the broadcast.

Crowds are a huge miss for pro-wrestling, but until they're able to return there are at least some positives we can take...
