The conqueror of The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak went rolling into SummerSlam 2014 with an incredible amount of momentum, especially considering he hadn’t wrestled in about five months. Lesnar’s first match after WrestleMania XXX came in the main event, where the former UFC Champion challenged John Cena for his WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Suffice to say, the Face That Runs The Place got completely annihilated by the Beast That Runs The Feast, barely mounting any offense on a man that was presented as the most dominating, powerful, and undefeatable animal in WWE history. This was the Beast Incarnate at his most interesting, and he went from a hated Phenom-slayer to a beloved champion overnight, completely messing with his supposed alignment and the fans’ perceptions of him.

While watching Brock Lesnar beat the tar out of John Cena and Seth Rollins a couple more times was fun, his drawing power soon waned after losing the title. He got kayfabe-suspended the night after WrestleMania 31 for moving some furniture around and killing a few members of the crew, returned for a muddling feud with Undertaker some 17 months after the Streak ended, and has since been booked to lose in every way possible apart from an actual decisive loss.

He passed out against Undertaker. He got eliminated from the Royal Rumble and literally just walked away. He failed to win at Fast Lane. Even the matches he has won have been well short of expectations, with Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton being the main two casualties (literally in Orton’s case) of a legitimate fighter working scripted fights. Nobody ever looks better for working against Lesnar, and the mythological value of beating Lesnar is now at such a perplexing spot that it’s entirely uncertain that the rub of the Streak will ever actually be passed on.

Then you add in the fact WWE did Lesnar a huge favour in letting him fight again in the UFC while ALSO putting him on the front of 2k17, before he threw it all in their faces by failing a drug test and making a mockery of their Wellness Policy. He’s legitimately hurting talent like Orton, not putting in the effort in with guys like Ambrose, getting into backstage confrontations with Chris Jericho, and making more money for Dana White than Vince McMahon given how his house show appearances don’t even sell out anymore.

Career Trend: Slightly down
