5 WWE Babyfaces Who Couldn't Handle Getting Booed

3. Roman Reigns

Onscreen, Roman Reigns is a consummate professional. He knows that, even if the large majority of fans jeer him, young kids buy his t-shirts. Young kids expect to see their superhero overcome the obstacles piled against him with his detonative power sequences and no-frills brand of stoic charisma. He has never once let them down by pitching a conniption fit, even in the face of such vicious, relentless heat.

That is to his eternal credit.

We were all guilty of conflating the man and the performer. As we learned recently, following a deeply grim situation that has forced many of us to reassess our feelings towards the man, there is a human being beneath the divisive sports entertainer - and this human being, away from the professional environment, showed fragility when responding to an equally relentless stream of Twitter trolls. "Stop tweeting at work and earn some money," he responded to one such troll. People at the time cited this as evidence of Roman's real-life heel credentials, when in fact, it took the most tragic of circumstances to realise that this was a man simply reacting, on a human level, to those unable to separate Roman Reigns from Joseph Anoaʻi.

Joining in the "fun" of wrestling's absurd theatre is one thing, especially when WWE encourages us to react to Roman as we see fit. Spouting unncessary, direct hatred on Twitter is the real heel move.
