The Miz had won the career-changing ladder match in 2010, and he even captured the world championship belt. However, looking at his performance on the last five Money in the Bank shows, it seems like the creative team does not wish to push 'The A-Lister' during this season. He did not make it to the match card in 2015, while in 2016, the writers kept him off the show even though he was holding the prestigious Intercontinental Championship.

In 2018, WWE announced him as one of the eight participants of the men's match. However, 'The Awesome One' could not seize the contract. Last year, the backstage staff booked him to lose a steel cage match against Shane McMahon, and ahead of the 2020 edition of the event, they had him eat a pin versus the Lucha House Party.

These developments highlight that Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin subtly receives a demotion when the Money in the Bank pay-per-view approaches.
