5 WWE Superstar Relations That Crashed And Burned In NXT

3. Briley Pierce

Brother Of - Dolph Ziggler It's hard to believe that it's already been more than ten years since Dolph Ziggler first appeared on our screens, debuting as Chavo Guerrero's golf caddy and then as a member of the much-ridiculed Spirit Squad faction of male cheerleaders. He has been around in his current guise since 2008, seemingly doomed to an eternal existence in the midcard despite his repeated attempts to break into the upper echelons of the company. His younger brother Ryan followed in his footsteps by starting his career at Ohio Valley Wrestling, though at this point (in 2010) it hadn't been affiliated with the WWE for two years. He switched to FCW in 2011, becoming Briley Pierce and achieving a moderate amount of success with a three month tag title reign. After briefly appearing on the revamped NXT as an interviewer, he made his in-ring debut in May 2013, competing against Sakamoto (Tensai's onetime manservant). This ended in a no contest when Conor O'Brian (now The Ascension's Konnor) attacked both men, subsequently defeating them in a handicap match the following week to assert his status as one of the brand's dominant heels at the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSU9e0aPNK0 A tag team partnership between Pierce and Sakamoto was teased as they assisted each other in a subsequent battle royale, but both were released as part of a large-scale developmental clearout before it even aired. Dolph got himself in some hot water (as he frequently does) for tweeting his displeasure at this, and his brother has barely popped up anywhere in a wrestling capacity since, his name only coming up as one of the many individuals to make allegations against now former NXT head trainer Bill DeMott. Instead, he appears to be attempting to transition into an author/internet personality, having written a pair of books.
