50 Best WWE Matches Of The 90s

24. Shawn Michaels & Diesel Vs. Razor Ramon & 123 Kid (Action Zone, 9/28/94)

Another match that thankfully found second life on the video market, this Kliq-loaded Tag Team title bout aired on the second episode of the short-lived Sunday morning program Action Zone in 1994. The show quickly reneged on its promise to be about 'all action, all the time', but not before bestowing this diamond to the audience. Working off of a story in which Michaels would accidentally superkick Diesel from time to time, such an action did occur during the match, and bewildered Michaels had to somehow survive until "Big Daddy Cool" came to. The heels prevailed when Kid was booted by a finally-conscious Diesel after 22 minutes of feverish tag team action. The DVD "The Kliq Rules" did the world a service by unearthing this match.

23. Ric Flair Vs. Macho Man Randy Savage (WrestleMania VIII)

Through some roster-wrangling and re-positioning, it turned out that Savage would be receiving the WWF title match against Flair at WrestleMania. For story purposes, Flair made several tawdry claims about he and Miss Elizabeth, because everyone knows the most fascinating Savage is the one about to uncontrollably rip someone's head off. Flair bled so badly that his popcorn-white hair was stained with crimson. Rather than let Savage play a straight-up babyface, the match boiled down to two men known for underhanded tactics doing whatever they could to one-up each other. Flair had the advantage after taking out Savage's leg with Mr. Perfect's help, but Savage found a way. The aftermath proved just as chaotic when Flair put his hands on Liz for real.
