50 Best WWE Matches Of The 90s

16. The Undertaker Vs. Mankind (King Of The Ring 1998)

Less a match and more an unbelievable spectacle, Mick Foley firmly rooted himself in the main event pantheon with his performance in this match, and he wasn't even the winner. When Terry Funk had suggested that Foley and Undertaker begin their Hell in a Cell match atop the structure, it opened up the floodgates of masochistic imagination. Foley famously took two bumps from the cage: one planned (off the side, through the Spanish announce table), and one not (through the flimsy roof and to the canvas). Fans screamed in a combination of horror and amazement through the falls, and remained bewildered as Foley, through his horrific injuries, trucked through the heated brawl with Undertaker as planned, which included two spills onto a river of thumbtacks. The Attitude Era is truly defined by several key elements, this being a hallmark.

15. Bret And Owen Hart Vs. The Steiner Brothers (Challenge Taping, 1/11/94)

Another rarity renewed for the DVD generation, this time on the 2010 Hart and Soul collection. It's the only ever meeting between two sets of brothers that arguably rank first and second in terms of in-ring ability among sibling pairs, and it took place weeks before Owen's ultimate heel turn at the Royal Rumble. You get all sorts of bone-crunching Steiner offense, with Owen sustaining the brunt of the onslaught, including Scott's infamous Steiner Screwdriver, as devastating as its ever looked. As is the case with most face-vs-face matches of the time, both sides dip into rule-bending from time to time, but even that takes a backseat to the ramped-up offense. The match unfortunately ends with a double countout and the expected babyface embraces, but what a showcase until that point.
