50 Funniest Wrestling Moments Of 2023

20. Big Bill Being Big Bill

Big Bill
AEW

A lot of wrestlers do mid-match taunts. They might flip off the crowd, do a dance, or pop their pecs. Some might even pretend to wipe their ass using an article of clothing worn by their opponent.

But nobody does it like Big Bill. Banter Bill, more like. The man is a patter goldmine.

On July 12, Big Bill wiped his ass with a Better Than You Bay-Bay t-shirt and did it about five more times in order to check to see if he'd wiped every bit of s*** off it. There's cheap heat, and there's that. Big Bill is an auteur of cheap heat, dedicating his career to being obnoxious with a Kubrickian attention to detail.

19. Orange Cassidy Is So Tired, Renee

Orange Cassidy Renee Paquette
AEW

Orange Cassidy was the most relatable wrestler in 2023, and he played the role of a person who has to go to work because, even though the very notion of work and how's it done has changed drastically since 2020, ya gotta do it.

After another stellar defence of his International title, he was asked how he felt by Renee Paquette.

"I'm so tired, Renee," came his response.

This was the Hard Times promo for everybody who has endured the horrors of the 2020s.

"Hard times are when you think you're popular, but a porn bot liked your tweet, daddy!"

18. Jon Moxley Gets Excited About Match He Thinks Is Set For Dynamite

At WrestleDream, Jon Moxley did commentary for the Match of the Year between Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre, Jr. Just after it ended, Excalibur reminded fans that Kenny Omega was set to play Demetrius Johnson at Street Fighter on Twitch. Ex said "It will be Kenny Omega Vs. Demetrius Johnson!"

With an incredulous, ultra-charming "WHAT?!", Mox thought the match was happening on "Dynamite or something". There was just something nice and hilarious about it.

Sadly for Jon, the probability of the match actually happening was as low as Tony Khan booking two women's matches on one TV show.

17. HOOK Thought His Dad Was Black

Just an incredible anecdote inserted here for your viewing pleasure.

In an absolute train-wreck of an interview, the endearing, celeb-obsessed Steve Fall chatted with Marty Jannetty. Two different species, watching the wholesome one slowly realise what he had gotten himself into with the deranged one was brutal. After many hapless attempts to mercy kill the web chat, when Fall finally asked Jannetty how'd he like his legacy in wrestling to be remembered, he didn't say "A great tag team wrestler", or "very underrated".

Jannetty, who is very much interested in telling you he has had it, several times, said "sex".

You remember Jay from the Inbetweeners? This is him now. Feel old yet?
