50 MMA Fights You Must Watch Before You Die

25. Gilbert Melendez Vs. Diego Sanchez - UFC 166

Mexico has always had a strong connection to combat sports due to the success of so many of their fighters. Tough, durable and always packing a serious punch, they've always been seen as some of the toughest opponents to face.

So when it was announced that Gilbert Melendez and Diego Sanchez were going to face off, it seemed inevitable that this would be a memorable battle. At first, it seemed like their scrap would be a one-sided affair. Melendez played the matador as he dodged Sanchez's attacks with ease before countering with powerful strikes of his own.

However, in the third round, Sanchez cracked Melendez with a hail mary uppercut that floored the former Strikeforce lightweight champion. As Melendez landed on the ground, there was a glimmer of hope that Sanchez would be able to win the surprise comeback victory.

While Sanchez wasn't able to take full advantage of the situation, it did make the fight even more exciting as both men showed their skills and incredible will to win.
