50 MMA Fights You Must Watch Before You Die

47. Frank Trigg Vs. Matt Hughes 2 - UFC 52

Matt Hughes' first title defense, during his second championship run, pitted him against Frank Trigg. Despite losing in a title fight to Hughes previously, Trigg earned a second shot at the belt following two impressive TKO wins inside the Octagon.

The rematch began with some controversy as Trigg landed a nasty knee to Hughes' groin that the referee somehow failed to see. With the referee not able to call time, Trigg pounced on the debilitated champion, landing punches from the mount before taking Hughes' back to try and finish a choke.

Despite being on the brink of passing out, Hughes somehow managed to fight out of the submission. The seminal moment of the fight came when Hughes picked Trigg up, walked across the Octagon and slammed him down onto the canvas, making the crowd inside the MGM Grand Arena go crazy.

Now that the tables had turned, Hughes proceeded to land a barrage of punches from the mount, causing Trigg to turn around and allow Hughes to finish him via rear naked choke for an incredible come from behind victory.
