When someone has a buzz surrounding them as one of the best wrestlers in the world, that can be both a blessing and a curse. It’s a lot to live up to those expectations.

But Kairi Sane did just that during the Mae Young Classic, winning five matches en route to becoming the inaugural MYC winner. Along the way, Kairi captivated fans with her Insane Elbow diving elbow drop that rivals “Macho Man” Randy Savage’s famed elbow drop. She had standout matches against Tessa Blanchard and Bianca Belair, and her semi-final match against Toni Storm was also a good one.

Sane and Shayna Baszler had a solid, entertaining finals match on Tuesday, with Kairi showing as she has during the entire tournament that she plays underdog better than almost any wrestler out there. If she can stay healthy, Kairi could be a huge asset to the women’s division on Raw or SmackDown.
