6 Match Star Ratings For WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022
2. Madcap Moss Vs. Happy Corbin
The exact sort of WWE match so formulaic that it's almost impossible to analyse.
Positioned in the death slot, it was never going to receive a hot reaction, but on a night on which the usual terrible mechanisms of WWE television were easy to put aside, this match only brought into focus just how much time the promotion wastes with witless bullsh*t that is all but impossible to invest in. It was a match premised on a heel falling out with his heater because his jokes were bad, and the heater, your new upstart babyface, still tells them and wears suspenders as ring attire. The content is low-stakes, Vince McMahon-friendly stuff, and the blow-off to a development that began just less than a year ago played out to bored silence.
The actual work was decent. Corbin can go when the stage demands it, and Moss is as athletic as his secret Performance Center history suggests when he bursts into vulnerable positions to feed Corbin's underrated power game.
But structurally, this was every WWE television match you've ever seen, so much so that you could almost picture Michael Hayes with his headset on telling them not to go too hard or too long.
Remember your spot on the card.
