6 More WWE Stars Who Tried Out MMA

6. Nathan Jones

Nathan Jones is the perfect example of why "big and scary" doesn't really carry you to success in both professional wrestling and mixed martial arts. Marketed to the WWE universe as a monster heel, an ex-con Australian looking to do little more than crack skulls (based on the fact that he really did serve time for armed robbery and was once one of Australia's most wanted), Nate Jones quickly washed out when it became clear that he couldn't work. He was stiff, and despite a great series of vignettes to introduce him, he quickly fizzled out. In the MMA world? Well things didn't work out there either. Jones' one and only MMA bout came in the legendary Pride promotion in Japan, in 1997, pre-dating his pro-wrestling career. He lost by submission to former sumo grand champion Koji Kitao. However, there is one place where big and scary will get you far: acting. Jones has done quite well in recent years taking on small parts in some big name productions, including Troy, the Conan reboot, and the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road.
