6 Most Embarrassing Things To Ever Happen Inside A UFC Cage
2. Kalib Starnes: The Running Man
There's nothing wrong with a little back-peddling inside the UFC Octagon. After all, it can be used to set up a variety of combinations and techniques.
However, when taken to the extreme, as was the case in the Kalib Starnes' 2008 fight with Nate Quarry, back-peddling can end up costing a fighter their job.
For almost the entire fifteen-minute bout, Starnes avoided making contact with his opponent and continually back-peddled.
It got so bad that during the fight Quarry actually mocked his opponent by doing the "running man."He then proceeded to put his hand over his face and chased Starnes around the ring for the remainder of the fight.
Despite the fact that there was little action, one clearly disgusted judge scored the contest 30-24 in favor of Quarry, which happened to be the second-largest margin of victory in UCF history at the time. The fight also earned Starnes a new nickname, 'The Running Man.'
Unfortunately for Starnes, UFC President Dana White wasn't amused by the performance and publicly criticized 'The Running Man,' before ultimately releasing him.
