2. Asuka's Streak Continues

NXT Women’s Champion Asuka’s undefeated streak hit an astonishing 160-0 as she, Becky Lynch, and Tamina defeated Alexa Bliss, Carmella, and Natalya on a main roster house show on Monday. The Empress of Tomorrow is rapidly closing in on Goldberg’s legendary 173-0 run, and if she conquers Ember Moon on Sunday, she’ll be just a couple of weeks away from doing so.

Ember has an impressive record of her own, however, with her only televised losses coming in a tag team bout and a Triple Threat, neither of which saw her pinned. Her athletic ability is undeniable, and she represents Asuka’s last major challenge in NXT’s women’s division.

There’s a strong case to be made for Asuka losing (then heading to the main roster), but it probably won’t happen. Asuka is currently advertised for NXT’s forthcoming European tour, and has been in career-best form since amplifying her character’s aggression. Besides, Ember’s story doesn’t feel complete yet, and while she’s clearly the division’s most credible challenger, her build-up could use at least another arc.

Look for the Empress to retain, conquer Goldberg’s streak, then drop the belt sometime this summer.
