The Wednesday Night Wars resumed with both AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT returning to their regular timeslots last week, though sports coverage continues to have an impact on the weekly wrestling schedule.

This special Late Night Dynamite was filmed last week. AEW captured the footage in the event of an NBA playoff series between the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lackers going to seven games, which would have meant moving off the regular Wednesday slot. The Lakers put the Rockets away, ending the series at five, and AEW decided to air this hour-long show on Tuesday as planned, meaning two consecutive nights of Dynamite.

Anna Jay vs. Brandi Rhodes, Matt Sydal vs. Shawn Spears, and Scorpio Sky vs. Ben Carter were all announced last week. Each brought varying levels of appeal, from the intrigue of seeing can't-miss indie prospect Carter in a bigger spotlight to the ongoing Rhodes family/Dark Order storyline, and with Chris Jericho returning to the announce booth, the end product was a lot of fun.

Airing after midnight means Late Night Dynamite is almost certain to suffer from diminished ratings, though the show largely delivered. Let's light the fuse...
