6 Ups & 10 Downs From WWE Raw (6 Jan - Results & Review)

4. Sounds Of Silence

WWE Raw Drew McIntyre Jey Uso
WWE

For as popular as Jey Uso and his entrance are, it is absolutely remarkable how silent fans are for some of his matches. It might be the biggest delta in terms of crowd noise for any wrestler on the roster.

Uso’s match against Drew McIntyre was a dull, paint-by-numbers match that felt like it had been cut for time, with both men just trading signature spots and selling like they had been at war for 20 minutes, when they in fact were only five minutes into the contest.

The match was the definition of “wrestling happening in front of you,” with no real fire or energy behind much of it. Maybe the silence from the crowd and the frustration of two lackluster hours of Raw contributed to that vibe, but it was difficult to feel anything for this match, including the finish, which saw Jey duck a Claymore attempt and pin McIntyre with a crucifix.

Both men are highly entertaining superstars who have had electric matches more often than not, so this could just be an off night for them, but it’s hard to ignore the lack of crowd response for large swaths of this match.
