6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Collision (April 27 - Results & Review)

2. Great To See Rey Fenix Back

Collision marked Rey Fenix' first match since 10 October 2023. Injuries suck, but Fenix looked ace during his return, and The Beast Mortos (formerly known as Black Taurus) was the right kind of opponent for the lucha flyer. He's a fairly big dude who can still feed and bump like Chad Gable is under that mask.

Remarkably, Rey and Mortos didn't just go full pelt for 15 minutes and hope the ropes weren't slippy. They slowed things right down during a well-placed mid-section. That let Mortos get some decent heat in on Rey before the inevitable comeback, and it enabled Daily's to rest their voices before cheering wildly for a certain Lucha Bro.

AEW fans were reeeeeeal happy to see Rey again.

Some of his rope work was phenomenal to witness, and it was obvious throughout that Fenix was enjoying himself the longer the match went. 15 minutes is a generous amount of time for a cold comeback bout, but Tony Khan made the right call in the end letting Rey and Mortos speed, slow then speed again.
