6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (11 Jan - Review)
4. Fun Hometown Fare Soars
Big Bill and Lee Moriarty Vs. JungleHOOK was nice, uplifting hometown fare for the undercard. Just a quality bit of business that complemented the overall show, kept the fans noisy and invested, and saved another fun undercard attraction for the weeks to come.
Big Bill was piss funny. His taunting rendition of the Baltimora crowd wave was classic. His sh*t-eating grin was so smug that his breath probably stunk.
The match was built around HOOK somehow contriving to suplex him, and he did, to a massive ovation and after some effective, shady heel work on the outside leading to the commercial break. Moriarty tapped to Jack Perry's snare trap, and the look on Bill's face after he was thrown to the mat indicates that he will be out for revenge in a singles FTW title match. For what it was - not a great deal - the story told was quite sophisticated.
Bill wasn't pinned, nor he was dominated. He was much too cocky, he underestimated his opponents, and he can say that he won't make the mistake again when they next meet.
