6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (14 Sept)

2. MJF Is Pissed

The best week-to-week television wrestler of 2022 thus far returns to All Elite Wrestling and suddenly, Dynamite is back on something approaching top form. Incredible.

MJF was great last night, because of course he was. Pre-hiatus, the guy was in the form of his life, working consecutive Feud of the Year contenders with CM Punk and Wardlow. Now, he hovers on the World Title scene's fringes, knowing he has a guaranteed World Title shot banked for whenever he sees fit, holding all the cards while others scrap around him.

Dressed down spectacularly by Jon Moxley last week, MJF delivered his response here. The usual crowd-baiting stuff was delivered with great effect, as always, but going after Albany served another purpose here. Moxley is the folk hero. He is the heart and soul of AEW. He is one of them. So when MJF draws that line between the audience and Mox, he is not only drawing heat for himself and widening the gap between himself and the fans, but strengthening Jon's bond with them too.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman is so good at this.

Moxley got credit from 'The Devil' for overcoming his demons but only to a degree. MJF plans on taking everything that Moxley had fought to recover away from him. There's no podium, now. The "MJF 2020" signs are gone. This is an entirely different beast that the Blackpool Combat Club man may not be ready for.

Should they even get that far. Who knows who'll be World Champion by the time MJF cashes his chip.
