6 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Jan 24)

1. Strowman The Singer

Oh dear.

This goofy, fun-loving giant gig is the same kind of strategy WWE used on Big Show for years, and it regularly contrasted horribly with his sporadic presentation as an angry, motivated and unstoppable mauler. In 2020, Braun Strowman has been neutered as a bad ass too. WWE just can't stop putting him in comedy skits.

When he's not dancing with New Day, Braun is agreeing to sing along with Elias and looking like a disappointed toddler when he gets interrupted. Here's the thing: Big Show had a memorable career, and nobody can claim otherwise. However, he was undermined a lot by ill-placed comedy, and the same thing is now happening to Strowman.

OK, so WWE only want to give the guy some personality, and there's nothing bad about relating to the audience. The problem is that it's clear most prefer Braun when he's a human demolition derby, not when he's acting the fool.
