6 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (November 15 - Results & Review)
4. Ultimately Impressive Women's Match
Because there is so much wrestling, all of the bloody time, and it's hard to anticipate and get up for all of it, there are few things more rewarding than a match that takes your breath away from out of nowhere.
Skye Blue Vs. Red Velvet didn't quite reach those incredulous heights, but they put a shift in, crafted something far more dramatic than it had any right to be, and got an ice-cold crowd fizzing by the closing stretch.
Borrowing an MJF signature, they got the crowd by exchanging a rapid-fire series of pin attempts, drawing a one count each time. This was effective in context; it was blindingly obvious given the wider (dismal) storyline that Blue was going over, but they established a sense of doubt by adding this sequence of competitive parity.
A bit shaky to begin with, both performers deserve major praise for building towards an unpredictable and slick series of reversals towards the finish.
The finish itself looked blown, but they each emptied the tank, so it would be harsh to go in two-footed on that.
