6 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Jun 12)
5. Effective (General) Management
Your mileage may vary on Paige as a performer, but she has excelled as a General Manager by doing her job simply, effectively, objectively, and most important of all, without taking the spotlight from others. Granted, she's yet to face a challenge as testing as that posed by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn when Daniel Bryan was in power, but she has given us few reasons to complain. Paige is just getting on with it. No nonsense, no fuss: just good decision-making.
She used last night's opening segment to book the main event, but found herself accosted by Asuka backstage later on. This led to 'The Empress' and Carmella being added to the multi-woman tag. Up came The Miz, who asked to be made special referee for Rusev vs. Samoa Joe. Her first response was a tongue-in-check refusal, but the GM was playing with 'The A-Lister,' and added him to the bout after turning his own "my hand goes up, your mouth goes shut" barb back on him.
A smart decision that made the bout more interesting by introducing a third Money In The Bank participant, thus increasing the chances of drama, born of another effective SmackDown segment.
