6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (28 August - Results & Review)
2. Gunther Is Pissed
Last week’s count-out win for Chad Gable was cause for celebration, even if it meant he didn’t win the Intercontinental Championship. In doing so, Gable became the first person to win a singles match against Gunther in nearly two years.
But Monday night, Gunther turned that count-out win into fuel – fuel for the ongoing feud, and fuel for his anger. The Ring General came out to acknowledge the loss and how Gable made history, but said he gained nothing. Gunther then changed his mind and said he gained one thing: pissing off the IC champ. Gable now has his attention and focus.
Gunther then made the point that Gable is all that stands between him and immortality via the Intercontinental Championship longevity record, further turning up the heat on their title match next week, as it’s all that stands between the Ring General and his legacy.
Last week’s match was a rousing success to build even more interest in this feud, but this promo – and Gable’s very simple rebuttal – really sold Gunther’s disdain, which makes this title bout an absolute must-see match next week.
