6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (7 Oct - Results & Review)

1. Sami Comes So Close

WWE Raw Gunther Sami Zayn

Lightning did not strike twice on Monday night when Sami Zayn attempted to once again dethrone Gunther and take a championship off of him… but he made fans believe in him right up until the end.

Zayn lobbied hard to get his World Heavyweight Championship match, leaning on being the only man to defeat Gunther on the main roster, and it finally paid off when the Ring General relented and agreed to the match. He almost regretted that decision, as Sami refused to stay down, kicking out of everything, including a powerbomb at one.

However, Sami had little left in the tank, and Gunther was able to finally sap him of his energy via a sleeper and retain his title. Still, this was a great television defense for Gunther, and another great showing for Zayn, who continues to be one of the best underdog babyfaces in wrestling.

Where Sami goes next will be an open question, but with Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso reuniting on Raw, things seem to be in motion for an original Bloodline reunion in the near future.
