6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (31 Jan - Results & Review)

2. This Feud Is Still Going On?!

Chelsea Green Michin
WWE.com

Simple statement incoming: We've seen everything Chelsea Green vs. Michin has to offer by now, and there’s nothing new for their Women's United States Title feud to say. Unfortunately, Michin winning here via disqualification means WWE disagrees with that, but it's high time they moved on. This is really, really stale.

Green needs something more than a repeat cycle against someone she's already beaten. Her partnership with Piper Niven is promising, but Chelsea needs some fresh challenges to overcome. The stuff with Michin is starting to feel like a re-run. Putting B-FAB next to Mia Yim will presumably yield a fresh women's tag-team on the back end, but yeah...the rivalry between Green and Michin is tedious now.

It was certainly bold of creative to line up what looked like a blow off only to scrap that and keep things going with a crummy DQ result. No, disqualifications aren't always rubbish, but this one was - it keeps a rivalry that should've peaked following Chelsea's title win back at Saturday Night's Main Event in December going. We're almost two full months beyond that and WWE still hasn't moved forwards.

What do they want Green's title reign to be? A progressive step in the right direction for overlooked midcard women, or an interminable series of bouts between Chelsea and Michin? Diminishing returns doesn't even begin to cover it. Please move Chelsea on to something new, and then shunt Michin and FAB into the tag division for a while so they've still got a spot on TV.

This feud cannot continue for much longer.
