6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Dec 4)

3. That Pat Patterson Tribute

WWE's video team are peerless.

The tribute video they put together for company lifer Pat Patterson cleverly fused archive footage with clips of the man himself singing Frank Sinatra's 'My Way'. There was something poignant about that, because Pat really did do things his way, and the bravery he once showed should not be overlooked.

Coming out as gay during a time when that was very-much frowned upon in wrestling circles was remarkably courageous. WWE didn't really lean on that for their tributes on SmackDown, but they did spin through several cheery photographs showing how much Patterson meant to the industry overall.

It takes a lot of skill to edit tasteful tributes that whisk viewers on a journey this lengthy in just three short minutes. That speaks to the talent of WWE's production staff. They should take a bow for how elegant and charming this video was.
