6 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (10 April - Results & Review)

1. Will Ospreay Fires Back

Will Ospreay
AEW

It's a shame Will Ospreay chose the early-2000s forum patter in his return salvo for comments Triple H had not-so-subtly made about his disinterest in "the grind". It wasn't anywhere near as big or as clever as 'The Ariel Assassin' thought it was to make icky jokes about 'The Game' sleeping his way to the top spot, but simply targeting the WWE chief full stop was understandable as he continues to present himself as the ace of the company.

The timing wasn't perfect - wrestler raging against a billionaire promoter was positioned as a heel act one segment earlier - but sneaking it in before brushing it aside to talk about Bryan Danielson was good juggling of priorities in general. There was no mistaking the primary goals here.

Wrestling Bryan and having yet another candidate for best match of 2024 is what Ospreay does, and what AEW must continue to do more of per their attempts to be the best challenger brand around. It might not yield immediate results and this week in particular won't stand a chance of getting conversation in the bubble, but none of that will matter when the pair light up St. Louis next month. Great wrestling did more to sell a pay-per-view than opening up old wounds - there's probably something to that.
