6 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (8 May - Results & Review)

1. Adam Copeland Vs Brody King

Adam Copeland and Brody King's bloody brawl highlighted an uneven episode, and potentially highlighted the ongoing rivalry between Cope and The House Of Black. That's a problem for Double Or Nothing and Malakai Black to worry about, but 'The Rated-R Superstar's credibility is assured after going to war in a decidedly un-LORE-like main event.

Mirroring Jon Moxley's legendary 2020 bout with Brodie King, this swung between grisly hoss fight and dragon-slaying exercise, and was yet another case of Copeland having matches he simply couldn't have if he'd stayed in WWE. Earlier in the night, Black presented a video where he explained that he'd eventually unleash the evil from within the TNT Champion, and though the agenting of this match could be tied to the mind games, it'd almost do it a disservice. Unbound from engaging in anything other than violence, this was a scrap for its own sake more than it was a sign of Copeland's descent into madness.

The inevitable post-match attack from the heels drew out Kyle O'Reilly to help finalise his title shot in his hometown this week on Collision, and there's good tension there too - Kyle either takes advantage of an exhausted Copeland to shockingly wins the gold, or potentially turns on him further down the line when he falls short.
