6 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite: New Year's Smash (Dec 27 - Results & Review)

Downs...

4. Still Feels Too Late

Swerve Strickland Prince Nana Tony Schiavone
AEW

AEW announced Keith Lee vs. Swerve Strickland for Worlds End mid-Dynamite, and Excalibur hyped the match as though it's something fans have been waiting on the edge of their seats to see. That's not true. If anything, people were fairly excited for this battle of former tag partners a few years ago.

The ship has sailed.

Lee vs. Swerve could still be a fun addition to the undercard come Saturday, but Tony Khan has honestly stretched the feud out for far too long. Interest and general buzz just isn't that strong for Keith anymore, and Strickland has motored past him onto a higher level on AEW's roster.

Maybe this scrap can rekindle some fire, but it remains to be seen. There's surely no way Lee is beating Swerve heading into 2024 - not after some of the performances Strickland has been putting on in the Continental Classic.

Move on already. Everyone else has.
