6 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's NXT (March 11)
2. Right Pace, Wrong Time
Pro Wrestling is weird sometimes. Tegan Nox lost her big TakeOver match with Dakota Kai, then lost the banger follow-up they had on TV, and still felt like she had purpose and momentum. Yet this week she's finally given a win of actual significance, and somehow feels like she's in a worse position as a result. Don't get me wrong, she absolutely needed to reverse her fortunes, but this wasn't the way to go about it.
Deonna Perazzo isn't a big deal on NXT, but she's still a more than competent worker. Giving the two women a fair chunk of time to really craft a punishing match, with Nox emerging as the worthy victor, would have done both of them the world of good. Having a rushed, sloppy, quasi-squash that ended virtually out of nowhere did not.
Time could have been shaved from virtually any other match on the card tonight, instead of making Nox and Perazzo throw something together that felt so insignificant in relation to the prize that was on offer.
