6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (13 May - Results & Review)
2. The Continued Undervaluing Of The Tag Division
In the five-plus weeks since WrestleMania 40, the newly established WWE World Tag Team Championship has been held by essentially a comedy tag team and barely given any gravity or weight as a meaningful title.
That’s why it wasn’t surprising that Monday’s announcement of a fatal four-way match to determine new number one contenders was made mid-show with little fanfare, taking place an hour later and featuring no build whatsoever. The match itself between Authors of Pain, New Catch Republic, Creed Brothers and Judgment Day was probably the dullest four-way tag match in quite some time.
Sure, the match had a few cute spots – Tyler Bate getting an airplane spin on Akam, Julius Creed running wild, and a decent finishing sequence – but that’s not enough to justify an “up” for this booking. WWE is seemingly treating its Raw tag division like an afterthought, which is disappointing.
