6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (21 Sept - Results & Review)

A fantastic main event and returning superstar elevates otherwise mediocre episode.

If you ever want to know whether a storyline is a joke, check to see if any “untouchable” main-eventers are avoiding it.

Notice how Roman Reigns is never around when the Bloodline is dealing with conflict with 946. It’s always the Usos and Jacob Fatu having to confront Royce Keys and OTM, exchanging horribly written dialogue and carrying out (most likely) a white, upper-middle-class guy’s vision of gang warfare.

Raw might have delved back into this shoddy world of 946 versus Bloodline, but it also provided fans with a stellar main event and featured the return of one of the brand’s biggest stars. Overall, WWE provided yet another mixed bag, with two pretty good matches and two forgettable ones. They followed up on two notable performers from their Mexico City Raw episode last week, but they also brought back a horribly unfunny sight (and musical) gag so everyone could “laugh.”

The days of universal praise are long behind WWE, as it’s conceivable some fans loved every minute of this week’s show for some reason, while some extremely cynical fans despised nearly every segment – except for the main event. If you hated that, you probably should check your wrestling fandom.
