6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (7 August)

2. A Fun-Filled Four-Way

It’s been said countless times that WWE has some of the best athletes and entertainers in the world on their roster, and all they need to do is give them some direction, let them do their job, and they can’t go wrong.

Fans got to witness a bit of that on Raw when Chad Gable, Tommaso Ciampa, Matt Riddle and Ricochet tangled in a fatal four-way match for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. The match was nonstop action, with some fairly creative spots woven in, such as stereo anklelocks, dual dives that landed on knees, and an insane triple German superplex.

The finish itself was also fairly creative, which isn’t something you say too often about a WWE multi-man match these days. Hometown hero Gable was hellbent on landing his Chaos Theory finisher, but people kept interrupting. First Ricochet hit the Recoil on potential victim Riddle, so Gable tried again with Ricochet, only for Ciampa to hit the One and Only with a Fameasser. Gable then nailed the Chaos Theory on Tommaso for the win.

What a clever ending that showed Gable’s determination and pugnacious attitude. And then we got the wholesome moment of Gable celebrating with his son at ringside. Now, just give Gable and Gunther 15 minutes uninterrupted and stand back.
