6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (Sept 19)

Damage CTRL, Judgment Day have good nights, just keep mic away from Dominik.

If you like wrestling with your wrestling program, Monday Night Raw was for you.

The latest edition of the red brand brought us a title match, a bout featuring #1 contenders, and three contests that continued ongoing sagas. As is par for the course in this new era, silliness was minimized from historic proportions, though Raw was not without its challenges.

Dominik Mysterio continues to be a bewildering figure. He is horrid on the mic, average (at best) in the ring, has no presence or charisma to speak of, and yet he drew tremendous heel heat Monday night. In theory, he should be greeted with crickets, not nearly booed out of the building.

Dexter Lumis’ appeal is strange and confusing, and if anyone can explain how this story is going to work, we’d be open to hearing it. Right now, we have a stalker who has kidnapped a man, invaded his home and tried to abduct him a second time on national TV, all while not blinking. That’s the story. We’re being patient, but it would be nice to see some progression.

On the flip side, Kevin Owens is mint. Damage CTRL and Judgment Day had solid nights. And Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle tormented each other throughout the evening.

Overall, a good night for Raw, so let’s give it up for that.

Let’s get to it…

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
