6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (21 Feb)

Downs...

4. Opening With A Promo

The Usos New Day

There was no need for The Usos and New Day to joke around before that opening eight-man tag match.

WWE produce some yawn-worthy verbal content sometimes, and this was exactly that. There was no intensity between these former rivals, and they were blatantly killing time before The Miz and John Morrison came out to interrupt them. It all felt so stock, and like one million show openings WWE fans have witnessed before.

It would've been much better to see each team's respective entrances then SmackDown opening with some top-notch wrestling. WWE could've easily booked a little tension between New Day and The Usos during the match rather than hinting at it beforehand too, and the program would've been off to a hot start.

Instead, as they're prone to do, the writers slowed everything down and laid out some lines that didn't reveal anything, didn't further the story and actually came across as a complete waste of time. When will they bloody learn?
