6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (31 Jan)

1. 'King' Corbin's Humiliation

There will be some fans out there hating on 'King' Corbin's dog food humiliation from this week's show. Detractors will point to the silliness of it all, and to the 50/50 nature of the booking (Corbin did this to Roman Reigns, so the babyface must do this to the heel). Some may even think it ruined the need for a 'Falls Count Anywhere' match at the Rumble.

This writer doesn't agree with some of that.

Yes, it was silly, and yes, it did dilute the Rumble stip, but anyone who willingly turns on WWE programming must know they're going to see things like this every so often. It's Vince McMahon's way, and it has been since the mid-80s. This is what WWE do. Besides, it's not like Corbin can't shrug off the embarrassment.

He's a heel, and he's supposed to look foolish from time-to-time. Fans in attendance for SmackDown had a great time laughing at his comeuppance, and Corbin himself sold the canned pet food like it was skin-burning acid. The skit put a bow on his pesky pursuit of Reigns.

Plus, it was better than that lifeless 'Big Dog' nonsense from several months ago.
