6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Jan 20)

3. Bit Of A Nothing “Main Event”

Technically, Legado del Fantasma vs. Maximum Male Models was your SmackDown main event.

It lasted less than three minutes, barely registered with the live crowd in Detroit, and the winners were never actually in doubt. So, yeah, this type of win (like LA beating local enhancement workers) doesn't actually do much to sell del Fantasma as possible tournament dark horses.

Concerns were expressed when WWE announced this tourney, and with good reason. Triple H's creative team just hasn't done enough with most of the teams involved since he took control last summer, and that makes it impossible for fans to really give a sh*t about their chances.

It would've been nice had Legado been built a little better before these brackets kicked off, but WWE's creative process never seems to have that kind of foresight or planning. Also, Mace and Mansoor are going absolutely nowhere fast.
