6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (23 March - Results & Review)
1. Punk Brings Out Jey’s Dark Side

After last week’s dismal main event showing, CM Punk upped the ante a bit Monday night and got table service for his troubles.
Punk addressed why he popped Roman Reigns for calling him “old” last week, clarifying that it wasn’t being called old that pissed him off, it was the fact that it was Roman hurling the insult. He acknowledged that he is old and isn’t ashamed to admit it. He called attention to his grey hairs (while throwing shade at Reigns for covering up his greys) and referenced Terry Funk, Nolan Ryan, and Gordie Howe.
The World Heavyweight Champion also said the quiet part out loud about Roman, that if Punk beats him at WrestleMania 42, it will mean that the younger star lost to someone he deemed “old,” so what does that say about the Tribal Chief? There was a reference to “jizz,” but we’ll let that slide.
Knowing that he was playing with fire, Punk then name-dropped Jey Uso, drawing the former World Champion out to confront him. Jey got right in his face, and even Jimmy Uso couldn’t calm Jey down or get him to focus. Hothead Jey would trigger the show-closing attack by charging Punk, which ended with Roman Reigns powerbombing Punk through the announce desk.
An unhinged, unpredictable Jey Uso pacing and unable to control his emotions is 100 times more interesting than the “run it back” Yeet-fest guy who had become little more than a joke to most fans not in the arena. Even Punk called it out when Jey made his way to ringside: “What’s he going to do? Yeet me to death?”
Punk’s promo also made short work of the loose end about being called old, turning it into a plot point rather than an anomaly.
They still haven’t reached the heights of their first confrontation, but Roman and Punk felt a bit more on track Monday night, though there are still some missing puzzle pieces that need to be filled in before 'Mania.
