5. It’s The Aftermath That Sells It

If Veer Mahaan was just going out and squashing guys and leaving after the bell, he’d be no better than a midcard heel, probably a couple of weeks away from losing to Finn Balor or something like that.

But WWE is doing one thing smart with him so far, having him squash his opponents and then continue to apply the cervical clutch after the bell, and well after WWE officials have pulled him off the opponent. Monday’s victim, Jeff Brooks, lost quickly and then had to be stretchered out after Veer slapped the clutch back on him twice after the bell.

That simple act helps really sell things, evidenced by the fans booing him as he left rather than just sitting there silently. It might not make him a star, but it doesn’t hurt one bit.
